Vulnerability detected and fixed in Hikvision IP cameras

The developer of video surveillance cameras is a company Hikvision – announced the discovery of a critical vulnerability in its IP cameras. The error was corrected in a timely manner and did not lead to material or other losses. This is a common occurrence in this industry – the company's specialists are constantly working to identify such vulnerabilities and fix them.
The problem was that the webcam buffer was overflowing, which could make checking incoming signals incorrect. Thanks to this, it was possible to take over control or change equipment settings without being a legitimate user. To exploit the "weakness" of the cameras, it was necessary to take into account a lot of nuances, so it would be unrealistic to detect it simply by brute force.
At the moment, even such a small possibility of hacking is excluded. Hikvision promptly released an update for the equipment and integrated protection into the equipment currently being manufactured. Important: the standard gives 90 days to fix errors, but Hikvision actually does it much faster. The manufacturer has been verified by thousands of users and is one of the reliable partners of Telecom SB.
