An 8 TB hard drive has been created

8TB hard diskThe effectiveness of tracking systems largely depends on the capacity of the media on which the information from the cameras is stored. An 8 TB hard drive has been developed specifically for this technology. It is a WD80PUZX from Western Digital. The developers took HelioSeal technology as a basis, the key features of which are:

  • low power consumption (especially important when the system is powered by a battery or similar power source);

  • low temperature inside the disk itself;

  • reduced turbulence.

The connection to the hard disk is made via the SATA 3.0 interface, supported by modern technology. Regarding the technical characteristics, it also became known that its buffer has a volume of 128 MB, and the spindle rotation speed is 5400 revolutions per minute. The new hard disk model also implements other technologies that have not been widely available before.

Given the possibility of data compression, scheduled recording, or motion sensor activation, 8 TB is enough for months of data accumulation. Even IP systems based on megapixel cameras, demanding storage capacity, they will become autonomous enough so that you do not have to change hard drives every few days.
