Wearable cameras will receive additional protection

Since 2014, in civilized countries, wearable camcorders have become widespread. They are used by special services, the legitimacy of the actions of which can always be challenged (police, rescuers, doctors). However, such equipment often has vulnerabilities that allow a third-party user to connect to it.
Recently, vulnerabilities have been found in 5 models of such cameras at once - from Vievu, Patrol Eyes, Fire Cam, Digital Ally and CeeSc. The main problem is that signal encryption is not performed, there is no digital signature. Therefore, in theory, you can upload a fabricated record to the archive. It is impossible to distinguish it from the real one without special verification. We are talking about cameras, which are mainly used in the United States.
There is also a risk of infection of the device with a virus with its subsequent transmission to all equipment included in the network. These are other cameras, as well as computers or smartphones.
Manufacturers report that they are already developing patches that will fix bugs. Representatives of Vievu announced its elimination. The reason why such an obvious weak spot remained in the system: the desire to reduce the cost of production as much as possible and to simplify the extraction of video recordings to a computer.
