With the help of video surveillance systems in places of above-ground crossings, the Moscow authorities plan to improve control over road junctions in the city. It is planned to use a telephoto surveillance system to minimize traffic jams and timely respond to accidents and other emergency situations.
The video from the cameras will be viewed by the operator, who will make the final decision on certain actions, depending on the situation. Appropriate algorithms have been developed in advance — the rules of operator behavior in one case or another. This can be a call to temporarily change the route of public transport, change the phases of traffic lights, call the police, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and other structures. The implementation of the project will require the coordinated cooperation of most of the city's services.
A total of 28 cameras and 36 surveillance systems are planned to be installed in Moscow by the end of the year. They will be equipped with 8 highways, including: MKAD, Yaroslavskoye highway,
Varshavskoye highway, Kievskoye highway and others. In the case of the MKAD, the systems will
be mounted on the inner side of the ring (57th, 91st, 107th kilometers). The estimated
cost of the events is 2.2 million rubles.
