World airports are being equipped with a facial recognition system

The importance of ensuring a high degree of security at airports and other similar facilities is undeniable. Modern tracking devices allow not only to record in passive mode, but also to respond to certain circumstances. One of them may be the appearance of a certain person in the frame. In order for the technician to properly "examine" his appearance, facial recognition systems are used.
The implementation of this system is underway at Changi Airport, located in Singapore. This is done by specialists from a large French company Morpho (Safran). They will place sensors in all key areas of the airport: at baggage collection points, check-in, and passages from one lounge to another. The system includes, in addition to cameras, automatic gates that are locked if persons listed in a separate database appear in front of them.
Such protective measures will make it possible to identify people who are wanted or for certain reasons deprived of the right to enter or leave the country without failures. The threat of illegal actions against airport employees or passengers will also be significantly reduced. The system will be launched in 2017, along with the opening of a new terminal, where it is currently being installed. According to preliminary calculations, within a year it will be able to analyze over 15 million people.
