Artificial intelligence in the service of border guards

Testing of artificial intelligence systems will begin in 2016, designed to facilitate the work of service personnel working at the border. This category also includes persons whose responsibilities include security control at the airport, at cars and railway stations. Since a person cannot guarantee maximum attention during the entire shift, there is always a risk of error. A wanted man, even if he comes to the attention of a border guard officer, has a chance to remain unrecognized. Artificial intelligence is always able to recognize faces located in a special database.
Testing will be conducted in 2016-2017 by the Foundation for Advanced Research. According to representatives of the Foundation, modern software and hardware systems are able to work in low-light conditions, interference or other factors that usually interfere with the recognition of a person's personality. The latter only needs to enter the area controlled by the security camera for a few seconds to start processing the received data. If he turns out to be wanted, the video surveillance operator receives an appropriate signal. Next, work is carried out according to a pre-developed algorithm.
The joint actions of humans and modern intelligent systems should make places where large masses of people gather safer. Based on the results of the testing, the issue of further refinement of the technology and its widespread implementation will be decided.Read more about intelligent video surveillance systems on the page.
